CONCORD, N.C. – Kurt Busch was happy to finally spend the day in NASCAR.
Busch was at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Thursday for practice and qualifying for the Coca Cola 600. For Busch, Charlotte will be the second half of a grueling, 1,100-mile motorsports double where he’ll open with the Indianapolis 500 before traveling to North Carolina for Sprint Cup’s longest race.

It’s been a long month for Busch, who’s attempting to join Tony Stewart as the only drivers to complete both races. But on a plane ride south this week, Busch felt excited at returning to his “comfort zone” of NASCAR.
Busch has kept up to date with his Sprint Cup team, even surprising them with visit last week when rain wiped out Indy practice. Busch stands 28th in Sprint Cup points.
